Narmin Sheeto, Year 12 student of Arabic from Liverpool Boys Campus giving a speech for Harmony Day

The Fairfield City Mayor's Youth Achievement Awards recognise young people that champion excellence in leadership, passion, commitment and enthusiasm in the Fairfield City Local Government Areas (LGA).

We would like to congratulate Narmin Sheeto, Year 12 student of Arabic from SCL Liverpool Boys Campus for receiving the the Leadership Award. The Award recognises young people who are influential and play a significant role in representing the voices of young people in the LGA and who lead by example and inspire others to pursue their personal best. You can find out more about the awards on the Fairfiled City Council website.

Narmin was nominated by Assistant Supervisor, Mr Kametopoulos for her immense enthusiasm; her continuous readiness to assist on Campus matters with the organisation of events; her deep understanding of what leadership means; her incredible speech on Harmony Day and what that means to her being an Iraqi refugee in Australia in her role on the Campus' Year 12 Student Leadership Committee; as well as her vivacious outlook on life to give back to the community.

SCL Liverpool Boys Campus Student Leadership Committee

The Student Leadership Committee is an initiative started by Mr Kametopoulos to cultivate leadership focus and direction for Year 12 students at SCL Liverpool Boys Campus on top of their language studies. It aims to bridge similar experiences and opportunities, such as an Student Representative Council (SRC), for students with their weekday school.

The Committee usually meets twice a term after class to discuss what leadership is and how it manifests itself in schools and beyond school. Students are also encouraged to participate and lead at campus events, such as the organisation of Harmony Day celebrations; mini assemblies; graduation and presentation Ceremonies; production of Year 12 Memories Booklet, videos and photos among many other opportunities. This year there are 13 students on the Committee from all three languages taught at the Campus.
