Welcome to the Secondary College Languages (SCL), the leading provider of face-to-face languages education in NSW.
We are a unique and dynamic College that provides excellence in languages teaching and learning in a vibrant learning environment that caters for the individual needs of all our students.
The College was established in 1978 to provide a pathway for students to maintain their heritage language on a Saturday morning when that language is not available for study at their own weekday school.
We offer 22 languages to over 2,700 students in Years 5-12 from public schools and other educational providers at no cost to parents/carers. Our Campuses are located at 13 high school sites, including 12 Campuses in metropolitan Sydney, and one each in Wollongong and Newcastle. The language courses offered are aligned with NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) Languages syllabuses.
We have a history of outstanding academic results, with over 70% of our students achieving the top two bands for the Higher School Certificate. Every year, many students are awarded First in Course and recognised as Top Achievers in the state.
The College has over 250 staff who are caring, experienced and innovative, and who are devoted to meeting the learning needs of our students. All our teachers are NSW Department of Education-qualified and participate in extensive professional learning that keeps them at the forefront of languages pedagogy.
The Campus executive and administrative staff are always available to assist parent/carers with any enquiries they may have. Each Campus can be contacted directly on Saturdays during school terms.
I urge you to continue to visit our website which is updated on a regular basis, and to follow us on our social media platforms, where we share the wonderful learning opportunities our students participate in on Saturday mornings.
