Additional learning support
We believe that every student deserves the opportunity to learn, achieve and feel included.
Our teachers create a supportive learning environment that recognises each student’s strengths and needs, and provides appropriate adjustments where required.
Our approach focuses on flexibility, communication and collaboration with each student’s weekday school.
How we support learning
Since SCL students attend their home schools during the week, learning support is a shared process. We work closely with you, your child and their weekday schools to identify when additional help is needed, ensuring that adjustments made at SCL complement those already in place. This partnership helps maintain consistency in learning expectations and student wellbeing.
This may include:
- differentiating lessons to suit learning styles and readiness levels
- providing clear scaffolding, instructions and visual supports
- allowing alternative forms of assessment or extra time where appropriate
- small group or one-on-one support during class for specific tasks
- regular communication between SCL staff and weekday schools to review progress
- connecting students to wellbeing or learning support services through their weekday school.
You do not need a formal diagnosis for your child to receive support.
Support can begin at any time, based on teacher observation, student progress or family input.
