Our principal and staff

Our College is committed to every student’s learning, wellbeing and sense of belonging. We work together to create a supportive and inclusive school where every child is set up for success.

Welcome from our new principal

“We are a unique and vibrant specialist school with a proud history of excellence in languages education, where languages, culture and identity are celebrated. We provide students with access to high-quality language learning opportunities that are not available in their weekday schools.

Our dedicated staff bring deep subject expertise, cultural knowledge and a shared commitment to student success. Working in partnership with parents, weekday schools, communities and the NSW Department of Education, we ensure that every student is known, valued and supported to reach their full potential.

At SCL, we believe that language learning is far more than acquiring vocabulary and grammar. It is about voice, identity, belonging and opportunity. Through rigorous academic programs, expert teachers and inclusive learning environments, we enable students to strengthen cognitive skills, broaden global perspectives and enhance future pathways in education, employment and civic life.

My colleagues and I are proud to support students in developing advanced linguistic skills, deep intercultural understanding, and a strong sense of connection to their heritage, community and the wider world."

Mr Kai Liu, Principal of Secondary College of Languages

Our teachers make the difference

Experts in language education

Our teachers are accredited educators with deep expertise in the languages they teach. Many are bilingual or multilingual themselves and bring lived cultural knowledge into the classroom.

Committed to continual learning and improvement

Our teachers build trust through clear communication. Our families know that their child has support and is ready to learn.

Connected across Campuses and Communities

Teaching at SCL means working as part of a state-wide network of language educators. Our teachers share resources, strategies and professional learning across all Campuses, ensuring every student benefits from the strength of our wider community.

Personalised support for every learner

Our teachers get to know each student’s learning style, language background and goals. Whether a student is beginning their language learning journey, extending their skills or accelerating, teachers tailor lessons to support growth, confidence and engagement.
