At Secondary College of Languages (SCL), we do more than just teach languages - we open worlds. We are a unique NSW Department of Education specialist school that gives Year 5 to Year 12 students the opportunity to study their background language not available at their weekday school, connect with their culture, and achieve outstanding HSC results.
The College is driven by the core values of connection, diversity, and excellence in language education, to contribute to community harmony by promoting in students a strong sense of cultural identity and a feeling of belonging to their heritage within and beyond the Australian context.
We offer over 22 languages across 13 campuses throughout Sydney, Wollongong and Newcastle - as well as through online programs that make learning accessible for all students. Our courses are designed around community demand and are delivered by highly qualified and passionate language educators.
All language courses are aligned with NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) Languages syllabuses. The languages studied at the College are included as part of a student's Record of School Achievement (RoSA) and Higher School Certificate (HSC). We have a history of outstanding academic results, with over 70% of our students achieving the top two bands for the Higher School Certificate. Every year, many of our students are awarded First in Course and recognised as Top Achievers in the state.
